ZEN GARDEN
Echoing one of the principles of Zen Gardens – the lengthy parallel lines give an impression of the infinite tranquillity (like an endless virgin desert, or a still shoreless lake) which exists prior to creation, and the consequences of that first act of creation, are like the waves that arise on the surface when the stillness is disturbed; in nature’s case – by an emerging landmass in the ocean. As that landmass ‘impregnates’ the ocean and by doing so allows flora to generate it is also analogous to procreation through the union of the sexes.
